Mauro Dalu is a software architect with over 10 years of experience based in Rome, Italy. Mauro has an intuitive knack for usability and design, and is a great communicator with a special skill for identifying customers’ and users’ needs. A compulsive designer, he has made it a constant goal not to suggest any solution that he would not use himself. He is creative and agile in his approach to his daily work, and tries to maintain a direct and deep involvement with his team, which he finds to be a critical factor for success in remote development.
Mauro joined Surgeworks on June 28, 2006 as WordPress and osCommerce developer/designer for the first Divine Office website, and played a crucial role, as Surgeworks’ Open Source Practice Manager, in the birth and initial growth Inchoo team, the leading Magento eCommerce developer firm founded by Tomislav Bilic that is today an important part of the Surgeworks family.
Starting in Q4/2009, Mauro Dalu has managed Surgeworks’ Mobile Development Business Unit for about 12 months. During this time he established Surgeworks as an iOS SDK, Rhodes and Titanium development services provider, building and authoring the Surgeworks Mobile blog — grown to over 25,000 monthly visits in less then 12 months — and taking care of the marketing, sales process and project management for customers’ and Surgeworks’ own products.
Since Q4/2010, as Surgeworks’ Products Business Unit Manager, Mauro is responsible of the company’s web, mobile and desktop Apps business. He manages a team of designers and developers based in Europe and Brazil with Ivan Kalaica as technical lead.
Thanks to Dane Falkner’s vision and to the continued effort of the whole team under Mauro’s management, Surgeworks’ Divine Office products have been recognized as The Best Catholic Website, Podcast and Mobile Apps by Time Warner’s About.com Reader’s Choice Awards for 2011..
